What causes fault code P2B59 on the Opel Astra K and Insignia B 1.5 CDTI?
In almost every case a failed Engine Coolant Flow Control Valve Control Motor Actuator on the water pump and thermostat module. The motor is the only wearing electrical part in the assembly; the valve, pump and housing rarely fail.

Do I need to drain the coolant to fit the motor?
No. The motor comes off the module without opening the cooling system. A small amount of antifreeze escapes when the cover is removed and a top-up afterwards covers it. A full drain, refill and bleed is only needed when the complete module is replaced.
