What exactly is included in this key shell?
This product is a replacement housing only and does not contain electronics. The package includes the outer shell, the buttons or button pad, and the blade — but the chip, circuit board, and battery are not included. To make the new shell work, you transfer the electronics from your existing key into the new housing.
How to choose the correct key shell for my car?
Compare your original key to the product photos and check four details before ordering:
- the number of buttons
- the symbols printed on each button
- the position of the LED indicator if your key has one
- the shape of the blade and the structure of the interior.
If any of these details look different from the product shown, message us with a photo of your original key and we will confirm whether this shell is compatible. Choosing the correct variant before purchase prevents fitment issues and avoids returns.
How do I transfer my old electronics into the new shell?
The transfer difficulty depends on the key model — some shells separate easily by hand or with a small flat tool, others require unscrewing or careful prying without damaging the circuit board. If your original key opens cleanly along a visible seam, the transfer is usually straightforward and can be done at home. If the housing is sealed, glued, or has the chip soldered to internal contacts, take both the new shell and your original key to an auto locksmith — they handle this transfer regularly and avoid damage to the chip. Can mr-key.com cut the blade for me?
We can cut the blade from a clear photo of your original key for €5. Mark the option "Cutting from picture", upload a sharp, well-lit photo of your original blade and we will cut the new blade to match your original one. By default, key shells ship with an uncut blade, so the cutting service is optional but recommended, if you do not have access to a local locksmith.
How long does delivery take and what if the shell does not fit or arrives damaged?
Delivery across Europe takes 2–8 business days depending on country and carrier. If the shell arrives damaged, with the wrong blade type, or does not match the model shown in the listing, contact us with photos and we will resend a replacement free of charge or issue a full refund.
