What is key conversion kit and what does it do?
This kit is an upgrade housing only and does not contain electronics. The package includes the new model shell, buttons, and blade — but the chip, circuit board, and battery are not included. You transfer the electronics from your existing key into the new model housing to upgrade your basic key into new model key or remote-style shell.
How be sure the conversion kit is compatible with my original key?
Compare your original key to the product photos and check the blade profile, circuit board shape, and the layout of the housing before ordering. The electronics from your existing key must fit inside the new shell, and the blade must match your car's lock. If anything looks different, send us a photo of your original key and we will confirm compatibility before you order.
Can i use the blade from my original key?
In most cases you can't use your original blade and the blade of the conversion key kit must be engraved.
We can mill the blade of the conversion key kit according to picture of your original one at additional price of 5 euro.
How do I transfer my electronics into the conversion kit?
Most conversion kits are easy job with basic tools. Open your original key along the visible seam, lift out the chip and circuit board, place them into the new housing in the same orientation, and close the kit. If your original key is sealed or the electronics do not lift out cleanly, take both keys to an auto locksmith — they handle this transfer regularly and protect the chip from damage. We provide video instructions for most conversion kits.
How long does delivery take and what if the kit does not fit or arrives damaged?
